Gospel is the "A to Z" of the Christian Life
The driving force behind everything we do at Redeemer is the gospel. The gospel is not just the way to enter a relationship with God, but is also the way to address every problem and need we have. The gospel is not the “A-B-C’s” of the Christian life, it’s the “A-to-Z” of the Christian life.
What is the gospel? The gospel tells us that we are more broken and flawed than we ever dared believe, but more loved and accepted than we ever dared hope, at the same time This means that the more you see your sin, the more you know that you have been saved by God’s grace and the more that grace becomes electrifying and transforming in your life. The gospel gives us incredible power to admit our flaws, thereby humbling us. It gives us enormous confidence because of our acceptance in Christ.
The gospel affects the way we do everything at Redeemer--how we motivate people, how we help each other through problems, how we worship, and how we proclaim the Word.
- But we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling-block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. (1 Corinthians 1:23-24).
- For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. (1 Corinthians 2:2).
- You foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? Before your very eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed as crucified. (Galatians 3:1).
- May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. (Galatians 6:14).
